We believe play-based learning facilitates choice, connection, and discovery, building meaningful experiences where learning grows

Whole child learning

Building bodies so the mind learns

At Dirt Learning, child-led play is recognized and honored as the foundation for all academics to build upon. At the forefront is empowering young children to have confidence in their independence. Relationships and the environment at Dirt Learning are the keys to providing young children the opportunities and security they need to lead their learning. I believe that children learn best by digging in and doing.

Catering to the whole child means looking at all the ways your child is developing and growing and not focusing on one isolated area at the expense of others. Our goal is to assist your child in creating a solid foundation for all future academics to rest upon, not just preparing them for Kindergarten. A strong foundation is built upon relevant, meaningful, and authentic experiences—this foundation where minds and bodies are ready and will ultimately lead to long-term academic success.

Our Reviews

  • Miss Christi supported my daughter in her efforts, her creativity, and in her realization of a dream. Miss Christi made it possible for my daughter to go to bed feeling accomplished with the satisfaction that comes after working to attain a goal. What more could a mother ask for in her child's teacher? Miss Christi's Green House Preschool has a mission of helping children grow and she strives to do so through hands-on learning experiences. My daughter's playtime during school served as hands-on learning experiences in many ways, and Miss Christi was there to see her through. Miss Christi sows only the best of seeds in her Green House Preschool, and her students reap abundantly! Thanks Miss Christi!

Christi is amazing and helped my son assimilate to a classroom environment. She understood the special needs and requirements of my son when no other school could. My son loves school now because of her! She always made my son feel loved and special and always welcome. She is a forever friend and my family is forever grateful.

Our early education journey with our son has been quite the journey, with a lot of doors slammed in our faces and a lot of frustration along the way, but there has also been a lot of hope. The first glimmer of hope we had for our son was when Christi opened a spot for our 4 year old son last fall at Dirt Learning. We had just moved from Arizona to Utah in March of last year so on top of everything, we uprooted our kids from the only home they had ever known! I have a bachelor's in Family, Child and Human Development, and at 18 months, I knew my son had some kind of developmental speech delay that was more than just a late talker. He wasn't even saying "mom" or "dad". We were in the thick of COVID and had a ZOOM evaluation for Sean with Arizona Early Intervention who said he did not qualify for services. We enrolled him in private speech therapy where they would try to have him do flashcards, and he would get so frustrated, he would throw the flashcards (not to mention that therapy was almost $500 a month in copays). We went through the IEP evaluation process with the public school district in Arizona when he turned 3, only to receive 15 minutes of speech therapy per week with his IEP. We moved to Utah less than a year later, and had to do the entire IEP evaluation again, which meant waiting. More waiting... The clock was ticking and our son was struggling with his expressive communication with us, his peers, and it was affecting every single aspect of his life. A year ago, our son could not even put 3 words together, he couldn't express his basic needs, and there were a lot of tears shed. A wonderful friend of mine I met here in Utah told us about this amazing unconventional preschool her former colleague from Head Start had created called Dirt Learning where the kids wear mudsuits! She said she thought she was full, but would talk to her to see if she could squeeze him into her program for the school year. I had still not heard anything back from the school district here yet and was desperate. Christi immediately opened her preschool and her heart to our son and our family. Our son did end up getting into the Special Education Preschool with the school district, but luckily the timing allowed us to keep him enrolled in Dirt Learning as well. Almost 8 months later, our son can not only express his basic needs, he can tell stories, tell jokes, resolve conflicts with peers using his words, and tells us about bears hibernating! A year ago, he couldn't tell me why he wasn't feeling well. Dirt Learning has allowed our son to not have to sit still and has allowed him to develop the skills and the language to solve problems and resolve conflicts. I don't know where our son would be right now if we hadn't moved to Utah and had these resources and new friends who advocated for our son. Our son turns 5 this summer and we just found out he got into the Special Education Kindergarten next year, which I'm so grateful for, but also a little sad to leave our Dirt Learning family. Having a child with special needs or developmental delays can be really hard sometimes with the lack of resources, ignorance, misconceptions, and judgement, but we have been so fortunate to have a village behind us and Christi and her Dirt Learning Preschool will always be a huge part of our village. Christi was the first educator I spoke to who really understood my frustration with the system and I'm so grateful she created a program for all types of children without having to fit into a specific "box" of learning style. She has been such a huge champion for our son. It's been truly amazing to see our son grow in this environment and we can't wait to see what he does this summer at summer camp!

  • I had my son in green house preschool for two years before kindergarten. He hit kindergarten and was reading and writing at 2nd and 3rd grade levels! He is going into 4th grade this year and he has always gotten 100% on spelling tests, always reads at the highest level in class, is compassionate tward others and loved to help other kids. He understands emotions because st preschool they focused on that so he was comfortable going into school and must learning. I highly reccomend this preschool, the teacher is AMAZING just helping out in her class a few times taught me new ways to see childrens actions, that kids learn from playing not just reviewing numbers and letters, she made it so fun they didn't know they were learning.

My daughter, Cadence, had a great time at this preschool. She learned through nature and this school helped immensely with emotional regulation. Ms Christi is the best!

Christi has always been a special being. Her way of thinking is what the world needs now.She lives and will teach children to live outside the box. Some of my best days were spent building dam systems on the side of what is now her sisters house in Roy. A very creative outlet for kids.
