Nurturing Young Minds Through Nature

Join Us in a Journey of Discovery

Dirt Learning is designed to provide young children with the best possible learning environment — where curiosity is honored, creativity is celebrated, and nature is a daily teacher. We offer two thoughtfully designed classrooms: one indoor and one outdoor, both developmentally appropriate for children 2½ to 6 years old.

Our learning materials are intentionally open-ended to inspire imaginative play, encourage cooperative learning, and support each child's individual growth and development.

How We Learn

Learning Through Play and Nature

At Dirt Learning, we believe in the power of play-based learning to cultivate independence and confidence in children. Our philosophy centers around child-led exploration, where young learners are encouraged to make choices, build connections, and discover the world around them. By fostering a supportive environment, we empower children to take charge of their learning journey, laying a strong foundation for future academic success.

Learning Through Nature

Many of our richest learning experiences take place outdoors, where children interact freely with nature. Children build confidence, resilience, and connection by planting, digging, climbing, or observing the world around them.

Learning happens:

  • Indoors and outdoors
  • In small and large groups
  • Through child-initiated exploration and teacher support
  • Best of all — through spontaneous learning moments

Big Feelings Welcome

Emotional Growth & Executive Functioning

At Dirt Learning, we recognize that play isn't just about fun — it's also where big emotions and important life skills take shape. Play can be emotionally messy, and that's a good thing. It gives children the space to safely explore and express their feelings while building key emotional tools.

To support this growth, we use the Second Step curriculum — a research-based program that nurtures empathy, emotion management, friendship skills, and problem-solving through playful, engaging lessons.
